Creation of logos for companies

Vector logos and matrix logos. What type of logo to choose for your business

What is a good logo

The logo is the gateway for any prospect in his relationship with a company. It’s the first thing you see, which must be obvious. It is the number 1 vector of communication for a brand, essential for creating a strong identity.

A logo must:

  • Be quickly recognizable
  • Getting a clear message across in a very short time
  • Can be declined in several versions, in several forms
  • Adapt to multiple supports and formats
  • Be understandable to everyone, regardless of culture or language.
  • Blend into current good graphic practices
  • To last over time

Creating a logo is the art of conveying a directed and clear emotion in a short period of time.

The different types of logos

When creating a graphic charter and a website, the creation of a logo quickly becomes inevitable. There are several types of logos:

  • Vector logos
Vector logos are made from vectors, mathematical formulas allowing them to grow to infinity without loss of quality. The definition / resolution of the logo does not suffer from the enlargement of this one, because it does not contain pixelated images but lines or curves calculated by the machine which displays it. They are essential for companies needing to print or display their logo on very large surfaces (billboards, urban displays). This is the most common category of logo among print and web communication agencies. Their design is done using vector software such as AI (Adobe Illustrator).

  • Matrix logos
Unlike vector logos, raster logos are made with pixels. They have the advantage of being able to integrate external images / symbols but have the disadvantage of losing resolution as soon as the logo is enlarged. This is not necessarily a disadvantage when the logo is intended only for use on the web or moderate media in terms of dimensions.
